According to Milan Live, AC Milan are preparing a move for Manchester City's 31-year-old Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic next year. The Serie A club has targeted the midfielder, potentially for next summer, based on the understanding that no negotiations are underway for a new contract. Kovacic's current deal with Manchester City expires in June 2027. The Milan Live report suggests Kovacic could be available for €10m (£9m). While Kovacic's current wages are considered too high for Milan, the club's officials are confident he would accept a salary reduction. Milan Live also claims that clubs from the Premier League and LaLiga are monitoring the situation. To counter interest from rivals, the Rossoneri plan to leverage their connection with Luka Modric, based on the close relationship between the two long-standing teammates. Kovacic joined Manchester City for an initial fee of £25m. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €20m.
