Steven Schumacher admitted that serious consideration was given to bringing Hull City striker Mason Burstow back to the Toughsheet Stadium. Burstow's 12 goals had helped the Whites to promotion last season. Schumacher stated that they had a conversation before the end of last season because Burstow has played at Championship level and has done well. The manager said they had a conversation about it but felt that to progress and compete, getting players who they think might have Championship experience or quality may help them. He added that they did not pursue the matter further. It is stated that Burstow was made available for transfer by his parent club early in the summer but the Bolton boss felt it was the right time to move on.

The Bolton boss has not ruled out returns for some of last season’s loan players, including Mason Burstow, but hinted that there are other options being pursued as the club tries to improve its attacking options. He said that if it is Mason, Corey, Amario or other former loan players, they are never dismissed as a possibility because the club enjoyed working with them.
