Uruguayan international Marcelo Saracchi, 27, has been identified as a possible target for Racing Club. Racing's head coach, Gustavo Costas, is looking for a replacement for current full-back Gabriel Rojas, who has been linked with a move away. Saracchi's loan at Celtic is nearing its conclusion, and the existing agreement does not contain an option for a permanent transfer. There were reports earlier in the year that talks about a permanent deal with Celtic were underway, and the defender's agent confirmed last month that discussions were scheduled, but there has been little movement. In February, Celtic's interim manager, Martin O'Neill, stated that he believed the club should attempt to sign Saracchi on a long-term basis. Saracchi, who has 11 caps for his country, has also been linked with Peñarol. His contract with parent club CA Boca Juniors is valid until December 2027. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €2.00m.
