Liverpool is set to finalise the £30m transfer for 18-year-old goalkeeping prospect Lucca Brughmans from Genk on Tuesday, despite late interest from Arsenal and Real Madrid. Both Arsenal and Real Madrid held talks concerning the Belgian youth international. Liverpool convinced Brughmans to join their project. A clear pathway to the first team was reportedly a key factor in his decision. The club considers the teenager a potential long-term successor to Alisson. Brughmans is expected to spend the upcoming season on loan, with a return to Genk being one possibility. The goalkeeper joined Genk in July 2024 and has a contract with the club until 2030. Transfermarkt lists his current market value as €4.00m.
