Arsenal is listed among the clubs interested in Gustavo Varela, a 21-year-old Portuguese forward from Monza who has had an impressive start in Serie A. Varela was signed from Benfica B last summer for €3.5 million, and his performances have also drawn interest from Napoli. It is reported that his former club, Benfica, is monitoring his progress for a potential re-signing. Benfica possesses a 20% sell-on clause on any future profit from his sale and a right of first refusal, which permits them to match any offer from another team. Varela has 7 caps and 4 goals for Portugal U21, a contract with Monza until 2030, and a current market value of €5.00m according to Transfermarkt.
