Lončar arrives from Hajduk, where he was part of the academy since the age of 12. During the previous season, he was on loan at Uskok from Klis, scoring 10 goals in more than 20 appearances.

According to Index.hr, 20-year-old Lovre Lončar is continuing his career at Slaven Belupo. He was not part of the plans of the coaching staff at the Split club, and as his contract expires in a year, the transfer was described as a logical outcome. Hajduk is expected to receive financial compensation from the transfer.
