Rennes attempted to sign 27-year-old former Ligue 1 striker Kasper Dolberg, who had previously played for Nice. The Danish international, who scored 34 goals in two seasons at Anderlecht, was not interested in returning to France and ultimately went back to his old club, Ajax Amsterdam. Consequently, Rennes opted to sign Breel Embolo from AS Monaco instead. Dolberg is under contract with the Dutch club until June 2029 and has a current market value of €13 million, according to Transfermarkt.
