In an interview with Marcin Długosz from Weszlo.com, Polish defensive midfielder Kamil Jakubczyk, 22, confirmed he was interested in an offer from Widzew Łódź while playing for Arka Gdynia, stating he was attracted to the club's history and the pressure of its large crowds. The player revealed that negotiations were advanced and the transfer was near completion. However, the move did not happen due to changes in the sports division at the Łódź club. Jakubczyk also mentioned that he had discussed a potential move with then-coach Vuković, who is no longer at Widzew. He subsequently joined Korona Kielce for a fee of one million euros, signing a contract until June 2030, an outcome he now considers to have been for the best. Jakubczyk has been capped once for the Poland U20 national team.
