German left-back Kai Wagner, 29, is set for a return to Philadelphia Union this summer after a period at Birmingham City. Wagner had joined the English club from the MLS side during the winter transfer window earlier this year, with a contract that ran until the summer of 2028. American journalist Jonathan Tannenwald wrote on X that he was told by a source that Wagner is close to a deal to go back to his former club, where he is the all-time leading assist provider. Tannenwald added that although the transfer is being arranged, there are no details yet on the structure of the deal or the finances involved. His current Transfermarkt market value is €2.20m.
