The 29-year-old has had a difficult season at Luton, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 22 League One matches. Yates has a history of being a regular scorer in the second tier with previous clubs such as Blackpool and Derby County. The deal is moving forward even though Sheffield Wednesday must secure EFL approval for transfers and can offer minimal wage contributions. Yates joined Luton in August 2025 and has a current market value of €1.80m, according to Transfermarkt.
