Leyton Orient have signed Watford left-back James Morris on a two-and-a-half-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months. No transfer fee has been disclosed by the two clubs for the 24-year-old. Orient boss Richie Wellens said that they first tried to sign him in the summer and that, this month, they had to wait for a couple of other things to take place before the deal could be finalised.

The loan signing of Stephen Mfuni from Manchester City, along with the impending arrival of Saba Goglichidze from Udinese, has permitted Morris' move to proceed. Assistant to the sporting director Valon Behrami said earlier this week that Watford might seek an additional full-back. However, Morris is expected to be permitted to leave regardless. In recent weeks, clubs at a higher level have shown interest in the 24-year-old, but both the Hornets and the player have honored their agreement that he would join Orient if he leaves. The proposed move will conclude Morris' four-and-a-half year career at the club, during which he has made 55 appearances.
