Hossam Abdelmaguid confirmed that he had received several offers before finalising his transfer to a Bulgarian club. Africafoot had revealed that the player was of interest to CFR Cluj.

According to Egyptian publication Yallakora, Ioan Varga confirmed that CFR Cluj sent an offer of 1.3 million dollars to Zamalek to buy central defender Hossam Abdelmaguid, with a proposed annual salary of 400,000 dollars. Varga added that Zamalek has not yet responded, and as a result, CFR Cluj has decided to negotiate with another defender.

CFR Cluj is competing with Ludogorets Razgrad for Zamalek's 24-year-old Egyptian defender, Hossam Abdelmaguid. It was reported that Ludogorets was in advanced discussions with the Egyptian club. Zamalek is demanding €1.5 million, an additional €300,000 in performance-related bonuses, and a 20% sell-on clause for the player, who had refused to extend his contract. CFR Cluj has now submitted a financial proposal that is said to exceed Ludogorets' offer by approximately $180,000, with the aim of quickly finalizing a deal. Zamalek hopes the competition will maximize the transfer fee for the defender. The defender is reportedly interested in a move to Europe. Abdelmaguid has been with Zamalek since July 2019 and has 15 caps for Egypt. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €2.00m. Reports from January 2026 mentioned Zamalek's asking price was between €1.9 million and €2.8 million. This followed a higher valuation of approximately €3.8 million in June 2025.
