Gonzalo Plata has transferred from Flamengo to Dynamo Moscow for 12 million euro.

Globo.com reported that Flamengo had agreed to transfer Gonzalo Plata to Dínamo Moscou for 10 million euros, with an additional 2 million euros in bonuses. Plata travelled to Russia and was received with celebrations, but was sent back to Flamengo after not being approved in his medical examinations. Flamengo has announced its intention to seek reparations for the devaluation of Plata, denying any clinical problems with the player and accusing the Russian club of being amateur and irresponsible. The director of football at Flamengo stated that the offer was very advantageous for Plata and was accepted under certain conditions. Dínamo Moscou did not specify its reasons, only stating that it would not proceed with the deal for several reasons. Plata expressed that he is happy to be back at Flamengo and has no injuries or problems. He has since played for Flamengo in the Libertadores after returning.

Gonzalo Plata has provided his account of the episode with Dínamo Moscou. The forward said that nothing was certain and they were waiting for a contract signature. He went there expecting a response from Dínamo, but the matter was not resolved and he does not know the reason. Plata stated that they said he had a knee injury, but he has never had such an injury, including at Flamengo where he played well and calmly.

The transfer of Gonzalo Plata between Flamengo and Dínamo Moscou was not completed because the Russian club cited physical problems with the Ecuadorian forward. José Boto stated that it was never Flamengo's intention to sell Plata or put him on the market, and that the negotiation was initiated by Plata's agents as a financially attractive opportunity for the player. Flamengo set conditions they considered advantageous for themselves, possibly less so for Dínamo Moscou, and Dínamo Moscou withdrew from the deal at the time of finalization. Plata and his representatives also traveled to Dubai in search of interested parties.
