Gideon Mensah Transfer from Auxerre to Antwerp
Africafoot reports that Gideon Mensah is attracting the attention of several European clubs, including Royal Antwerp. Mensah, who is under contract until June 2026, could receive offers of around 2.5 million euros if discussions are opened during the winter transfer window. For now, no negotiations have been initiated.
Antwerp has shown interest in securing Gideon Mensah as a backup for Olivier Deman, who is set to return to Werder Bremen after the current season. Mensah, who is entering the final year of his contract with Auxerre, presents an opportunity that Antwerp is eager to capitalize on. Although Mensah's market value is estimated at 3.5 million, he is considered a potentially affordable option for the club. Reports suggest that a two-year contract is already prepared for Mensah if he chooses to sign. Marc Overmars, who is focused on enhancing the team's squad depth, is at the forefront of the effort to acquire Mensah. Despite interest from other clubs such as Sheffield United and FC Porto, Overmars remains hopeful of securing Mensah, who has experience playing for Zulte Waregem during the 2019-2020 season. Should the signing be completed, Mensah would compete with Daam Foulon, another recent addition, for the left-back position.
