Gustavo Sa's transfer to West Ham, for which a £17 million agreement had been suggested, has reportedly not progressed despite being considered virtually complete days ago. Instead of the move progressing, the 24-year-old Brazilian has been reintegrated with Famalicao, and new links to Sporting CP have emerged. The midfielder, who joined the club in July 2025 and is under contract until June 2029, is still part of the Famalicao group, even though he missed the last pre-season friendly, creating uncertainty around his potential departure. In the 2025/2026 season, he made 45 appearances in Liga Portugal, providing 3 assists, and he also has 13 caps for Brazil's U17 team. The reported transfer fee was negotiated down from Famalicão's initial asking price of €25 million, and a €17.5 million offer from Al-Ittihad was reportedly rejected by the player in July 2026.
