Gaku Nawata, an eighteen-year-old striker from Gamba Osaka, is scheduled for a trial period at Ajax in Amsterdam. Nawata is regarded as one of the most promising talents in Japan and possibly Asia, having progressed through all the youth teams of Japan and made his debut at the highest level in the country. Ajax director Marijn Beuker discovered him during a visit to Japan. Nawata, along with his teammate Rui Araki, a seventeen-year-old goalkeeper, is set to train with Ajax's squad under coach John Heitinga for the first ten days of the pre-season preparation. Both players hail from Gamba Osaka, a partner club of Ajax, and are considered top prospects in Japan.
