Reports in Brazil were linking Estevao with a January exit, but Alonso has insisted he has an important role this season.

According to ESPN Brasil, Chelsea attacker Estevao has growing concerns about his role under Xabi Alonso. When he joined the club, he was promised that he would eventually be used in his preferred No.10 role. However, the arrival of Alonso and the signing of Morgan Rogers have seemingly changed his prospects of being played in that position. He has played infrequently under the new manager and fears that he may have to compete with Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto for a wing-back spot. Estevao does not want to leave at this time, but may have to reconsider his future in January if the situation does not change.

Chelsea's 19-year-old Brazilian winger Estêvão confided to people close to him that he believes he will have fewer opportunities to play under Xabi Alonso. Estêvão has made it clear to people close to him that he likes the club and wants to stay. However, if he receives few opportunities in the first half of the season, a change of stance could be considered in the European winter transfer window, which opens in January. The winger has 11 caps and 5 goals for Brazil. He joined Chelsea in July 2025 from Palmeiras. The deal was reported to have a fixed fee of €34 million, with the total value potentially reaching up to €67 million with bonuses. His current contract runs until 2033, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €80 million. Liverpool has also been linked with the player.
