According to Darren Witcoop, Coventry is anticipated to receive loan offers for the striker from Championship clubs this month, with recently relegated Wolves potentially being one of them. Stoke City has also been mentioned as a club that should consider a move. Simms could provide West Brom with quality depth, allowing him to substitute for either Heggebo or Morgan and help maintain the team's competitive level. Simms, who joined Coventry in July 2023, has a contract that runs until 2027. His transfer from Everton was for a fee reported to have the potential to rise to €9.4 million (£8m). Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €12 million. Earlier in August 2026, reports suggested Stoke City could acquire him for less than €11.8 million (£10m).
