Denis Zakaria Transfer from Monaco to Al Ahli
Monaco has opted to keep Denis Zakaria despite significant interest from Al Ahli, a Saudi club that had proposed an offer of 40 million euros plus 5 million in bonuses. The general director, Thiago Scuro, explained that the club's aim was to assess the proposal rather than to convince the player to remain. He noted that there was no discord or dispute, and internal discussions concluded in less than 48 hours. The decision, which was announced last Tuesday, confirmed that the Swiss midfielder, who is under contract until 2028, would not be transferred during the summer market. Scuro also indicated the possibility of extending Zakaria's contract in the future.
According to L'Équipe, Denis Zakaria is contemplating a possible transfer from AS Monaco, where he is under contract until 2028, to the Saudi club Al-Ahli. Al-Ahli is prepared to offer a transfer fee of about 40 million EUR. However, the transfer is currently stalled due to Saudi regulations that limit the number of non-Asian players over the age of 23. Al-Ahli has already filled its quota with players such as Édouard Mendy, Roger Ibanez, Mehri Demiral, Franck Kessié, Enzo Millot, Galeno, Riyad Mahrez, and Ivan Toney. For Zakaria to join, one of these players, ideally Kessié, would need to depart, but Kessié is reportedly unwilling to leave. AS Monaco has not yet received an official offer, and there are internal disagreements among the Al-Ahli board regarding Zakaria's suitability. Nonetheless, a three-year contract has been suggested to Zakaria, with a proposed salary of 7 million EUR net for the first year, 8 million EUR for the second, and 9 million EUR for the third year.
Denis Zakaria, currently with AS Monaco and having played 1 match in Ligue 1 this season, is reportedly close to a transfer to Al-Ahli. The deal is motivated by financial reasons, with an operation estimated at 45 million euros, including bonuses. Despite being a key player for Monaco and under contract until June 2028, the club is inclined to accept the offer. Zakaria is still contemplating the move, despite the promise of a very high salary in Saudi Arabia. This information comes from journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Al-Ahli has an agreement with AS Monaco for Denis Zakaria. The player could be offered a significant contract in Saudi Arabia. This move might impact his international career with Switzerland, especially with the upcoming World Cup.
