Davy van den Berg Transfer from PEC Zwolle to FC Utrecht

Davy van den Berg makes a free transfer move from PEC Zwolle to FC Utrecht this summer. He has signed a contract until the summer of 2028. Despite interest from several foreign clubs, he chose FC Utrecht for its sporting project. He was also linked to Feyenoord but decided to stay in the Netherlands. Van den Berg expressed his desire to join a top-5 team in the Netherlands and aims to meet the high expectations for the upcoming season.

Davy van den Berg is expected to join FC Utrecht as his contract with PEC Zwolle is expiring. FC Utrecht seems to have won the race for his signature against several foreign clubs, including Hannover 96, Hertha BSC, and Sturm Graz. This move marks a return to FC Utrecht for Van den Berg, who was previously under contract with the club from 2019 to 2022 but did not break into the first team.

FC Utrecht is reported to have a serious interest in acquiring Davy van den Berg from PEC Zwolle after the current season. Van den Berg has evolved into a crucial player at PEC Zwolle, which has caught the attention of Utrecht as they aim to enhance their midfield lineup. The anticipated transfer is expected to be at no cost. As reported by De Telegraaf, Utrecht's intention is to secure the midfielder on a free transfer following the season, motivated by Van den Berg's outstanding growth at PEC, where he has become an indispensable player. Although he was previously a part of Utrecht's organization from 2019 to 2022, he did not leave a significant mark, primarily participating with Jong FC Utrecht. This season, however, he has featured in 27 Eredivisie matches, netting four goals and contributing two assists, which increases his value to Utrecht as they seek to strengthen their team in anticipation of potential exits of their current loanees.
