Darío Benedetto Transfer from Olimpia to Newell's Old Boys

Darío Benedetto, former forward of Boca, revealed that he decided to join Newell's after being convinced by Ogro Fabbiani via Instagram. Benedetto expressed his excitement about returning to Argentine football and joining a club with the pressure he thrives under. He mentioned the importance of being close to his family. Ogro Fabbiani, the coach, was instrumental in bringing Benedetto back, expressing his happiness and confidence in Benedetto's ability to bring joy to the team.

Darío Benedetto is close to making a return to Argentine football after reportedly reaching a verbal agreement to join Newell's. He is set to play under the management of Cristian "Ogro" Fabbiani and alongside players such as Keylor Navas and Ever Banega. The transfer follows a controversial and brief spell at Olimpia, which ended due to personal reasons unrelated to the club. Although Benedetto had previously indicated he would not play for another South American team apart from Boca, Newell's succeeded in securing his services despite interest from other Argentine clubs. He is anticipated to sign a one-year contract with Newell's. During his stint at Olimpia, Benedetto managed only two assists and received a red card, amid a tense relationship with fans, which was evident through his gestures towards the crowd during a significant defeat against Vélez. He clarified that his departure from Olimpia was solely due to personal reasons. Furthermore, Benedetto has been training at the Defensa y Justicia facilities, where his son is part of the youth divisions, a connection facilitated by his representative Christian Bragarnik's ties with the club.
