Ajax wants to sell Akpom, along with six other players, to raise funds for new arrivals. He has been restricted from using club facilities during first-team hours and has lost his parking spot and access to multiple physiotherapists.

Chuba Akpom received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia before signing with Ajax. The offer was so substantial that it kept him awake for five days. He and his girlfriend contemplated the potential lifestyle changes and purchases they could make with the money. However, the transfer to Saudi Arabia did not materialize, and Akpom eventually signed a five-year contract with Ajax in the summer of 2023. He was previously loaned to Lille by Ajax.
