Crystal Palace has shown interest in Chrislain Matsima, a 24-year-old central defender from FC Augsburg. Matsima is reportedly considered a potential successor to 26-year-old Maxence Lacroix, a World Cup participant, should Lacroix leave this summer. Matsima's contract with FC Augsburg runs until 2030 and does not include a release clause, which could allow the club to hope for a multi-million transfer fee. The French U23 international, who holds both French and Congolese citizenship, joined Augsburg from AS Monaco in July 2025 for a fee reported to be €5 million. In October 2025, it was reported that Augsburg would seek a club-record €30 million for the player. According to Transfermarkt, his current valuation is €22 million. FC Bayern München has also been recently linked with Matsima.
