It is reported that Cardiff City are leading a four-way competition for Charlie Savage, a Welsh international midfielder for Reading. The other contenders are Lincoln, Blackburn Rovers, and the newly-relegated Sheffield Wednesday, with Cardiff City identified as early contenders. The 23-year-old's contract expires next summer. He has previously attracted interest, with Norwich City and Oxford United having been linked during the last transfer window, when a reported £500,000 bid from Oxford was rejected. It is now understood that a fee of around £800,000 could be sufficient for a deal to be completed. Savage, who has two caps for Wales, joined Reading in July 2023.
