Multiple reports on Monday claimed that América had strong intentions to sign César Huerta, a 25-year-old Mexican winger, from Anderlecht. After failing to acquire Jamintón Campaz, América reportedly turned its attention to the player in Belgium and made a financial offer. América is not the only interested club, as Cruz Azul is also seeking to sign the player. However, Huerta's former team, Club Universidad, is now reportedly in very advanced negotiations to re-sign him. Carlos Ponce de León stated that Anderlecht is asking for around 6 million dollars. According to the same information, Pumas holds an advantage over its rivals because it still owns a percentage of the player's rights. Interest in Huerta has increased due to his lack of activity at Anderlecht, where he has not been called up for six of the last seven possible matches. The Mexican international, who has 27 caps and 3 goals for his country, has a contract with the Belgian club until June 2029 and a current Transfermarkt market value of €3.50m. Anderlecht signed Huerta from Pumas in January 2025 for a reported fee of €2 million.
