Antwerp had wanted to sign Cédric Hatenboer a year ago. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Antwerp will not make an attempt to sign Hatenboer. The club has several young central midfielders from their own academy and wants to give them the chance to develop.

Marc Overmars has reportedly been interested in Hatenboer since his time at Excelsior and sees him as a future controlling midfielder for Antwerp. The club would have a transfer budget of 10 million euro in January, and Hatenboer is one of the main players being considered. Anderlecht wants to recover a part of the over two million euro they invested in Hatenboer. A possible transfer or loan solution is being sought in January, and Olivier Renard stated that all parties need to make an effort to resolve the impasse, adding that Anderlecht must sell players this winter.
