AS reports that Real Madrid's interest in 21-year-old Spanish forward Carlos Espí is increasing. The publication also states that initial contacts have occurred between the clubs and the player's entourage. Sources close to the negotiation describe the talks as being in a very early stage. It is reported that Levante is referring to the player's €25 million release clause. His contract is valid until 2028. Real Madrid's approach has halted what was an advanced transfer for Espí to Hull City, a deal which had included a formal offer to Levante. Consequently, Espí has currently suspended other foreign operations to await developments. The Spanish U20 international scored 11 goals in 25 LaLiga appearances last season. His current market value is €20 million, according to Transfermarkt. It was also reported in July 2026 that Ipswich Town was willing to pay his release clause.
