Ajax and Angers SCO have reached an agreement for the loan of Branco van den Boomen. The midfielder will join the French club on loan with immediate effect until the end of the current season. Van den Boomen's contract with Ajax is until June 30, 2027. Marijn Beuker, Ajax's sporting director, stated that Branco is a model professional who has had setbacks with them in recent seasons because of injuries, which included a long back injury. Beuker added that he has always handled these assignments professionally. The sporting director also mentioned that Ligue 1 is a league where the player has already achieved success and that they hope he can return to his previous levels. Beuker also wished him good luck.

Branco van den Boomen has returned to France, joining Angers on a six-month loan. Van den Boomen had a long-term back injury during the first part of the season at Ajax and made only one appearance.

Angers is seeking a successor for Himad Abdelli, whose winter departure to Marseille is anticipated. The club has entered into discussions that are advancing rapidly with Ajax for 30-year-old Dutch midfielder Branco Van den Boomen. While Angers denies making an approach, the two clubs could quickly reach an agreement for a four-month loan for the player. Van den Boomen previously played for Toulouse. The nature of the negotiations has not been disclosed, but the deal is understood to be temporary. The midfielder is under contract with the Amsterdam club for another eighteen months. Van den Boomen was not part of Ajax's plans after being hindered by injuries last season. He has made no appearances in the Eredivisie in the 2025/2026 season and is expected to have a medical examination on Wednesday. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €2.50m. Reports in September 2024 linked the player with a potential move for a fee between eight and ten million euros.
