Angers is seeking a successor for Himad Abdelli, whose winter departure to Marseille is anticipated. The club has entered into discussions that are advancing rapidly with Ajax for 30-year-old Dutch midfielder Branco Van den Boomen. While Angers denies making an approach, the two clubs could quickly reach an agreement for a four-month loan for the player. Van den Boomen previously played for Toulouse. The nature of the negotiations has not been disclosed, but the deal is understood to be temporary. The midfielder is under contract with the Amsterdam club for another eighteen months. Van den Boomen was not part of Ajax's plans after being hindered by injuries last season. He has made no appearances in the Eredivisie in the 2025/2026 season and is expected to have a medical examination on Wednesday. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €2.50m.
