Portuguese right-back Aurelio Buta was expected to arrive in Athens on Saturday night to finalize his transfer to Panathinaikos. This transfer followed the sale of Giorgos Vagiannidis, and Panathinaikos swiftly reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the acquisition of the 28-year-old player. It was anticipated that Buta would undergo medical examinations on Sunday in Athens, after which he would be available to coach Rui Vitoria. He was set to be included as one of the two changes in the European squad list for the upcoming Europa League matches against Shakhtar, part of the third qualifying round. His contract with the German club was due to expire in June 2026, and his current market value was reported to be €5.00m by Transfermarkt. FC Union Berlin had also shown interest in the player.
