Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all scouted 24-year-old Spanish winger Ander Barrenetxea extensively this year and were impressed by his performances in Spain. Real Sociedad wants to keep the winger, who is under contract until 2030, and the Basque club does not intend to encourage offers. Amid growing interest from the Premier League, Real Sociedad are expected to require payment of the player's €75m (£65.5m) release clause. Barrenetxea joined the club in July 2019. It was reported in May 2026 that Chelsea was preparing a proposal of approximately €80 million to sign him.
