Afonso Sousa decided against accepting an offer from Levante, opting instead to join Samsunspor due to more appealing financial terms at the Turkish club. The 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder recently departed from Lech Poznań to concentrate entirely on his transfer, even skipping training and matches with his former club. Although he had multiple offers from clubs such as SC Braga, RC Lens, and Deportivo Alavés, Sousa was particularly attracted by the financial incentives provided by Samsunspor. The Turkish club managed to secure the transfer for around three million euros, with the possibility of bonuses raising the total to 3.5 million euros. Sousa agreed to a five-year contract with Samsunspor, with a primary focus on the lucrative salary associated with it. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €5 million.
