English Championship team Middlesbrough has acquired center-back Adilson Malanda from Charlotte FC. The Major League Soccer team will receive $8 million (€6.9m) plus the usual add-ons for the 23-year-old French center-back, whose contract with the American club was due to expire on December 31, 2026. Malanda will return to Charlotte FC on loan for the remainder of the 2025 MLS season. Transfermarkt estimates the player's current market value at €4.00m. Charlotte FC general manager Zoran Krneta noted that several top clubs had made strong offers for Malanda, but the agreement with Middlesbrough permitted Charlotte FC to retain him until the end of the season.
