Sunderland is reportedly one of several clubs very interested in Werder Bremen's 18-year-old central defender, Abdoul Karim Coulibaly, who holds both German and Cote d'Ivoire nationality. The English clubs Bournemouth and Burnley are also interested in the player. Arsenal recruiters watched Coulibaly in Germany this season and had an approach for him rejected by Werder Bremen during the winter transfer window. In Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt is also said to be monitoring the situation. Werder Bremen has set an asking price of €25-30 million for the defender, whose contract is valid until 2029. This followed reports from February 2026 that the club had rejected an offer significantly exceeding €20 million.
