Schalke 04 wants to sign Edin Džeko

A potential transfer is being discussed as the striker's contract with his current club is set to expire.

German second-division club Schalke 04 wants to sign Edin Džeko, a 39-year-old Bosnian-Herzegovinian centre-forward, whose contract with Fiorentina is set to expire at the end of the season. There has been intensive communication between the club and the player. In its effort to recruit Džeko, Schalke 04 is involving Nikola Katić and coach Miron Musić, who are also from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The club has competition from FC Paris from France, a team described as financially strong and part of the Red Bull system. It is reported that FC Paris can offer Džeko a much better contract and the opportunity to play first-division football. The striker has 146 caps and 72 goals for Bosnia-Herzegovina and has made 11 appearances with no goals in the current Serie A season. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €1.50m.
