There is renewed Premier League interest in Kjell Scherpen, a 26-year-old Dutch goalkeeper from Union Saint-Gilloise. The newly promoted side Ipswich Town reportedly considers him a primary target as they search for a new keeper. This follows a previous link to Wolverhampton Wanderers in January, though a transfer did not happen then. It is understood that Scherpen is one of several options for Ipswich. Newcastle United's Nick Pope is also reportedly being considered.
Scherpen joined the Belgian club in July 2025 and his contract runs until 2028. In the 2025/2026 Jupiler Pro League season, he made 29 appearances and conceded 22 goals. His current Transfermarkt market value is €8.00m.
