Brøndby IF is nearing an agreement to sign 28-year-old English defender Ben Godfrey on a loan deal for the remainder of the season. Journalist Mike McGrath also indicated on his X profile that the Superliga club was signing Godfrey.
The player is currently under contract with Atalanta, for whom he has made five appearances since the Italian club acquired him from Everton in the summer of 2024 for a fee that the BBC reported was ten million pounds. Godfrey had been on loan at Sheffield United since the summer, where he made four Championship appearances. The loan spell was considered unsuccessful and was ended at the turn of the year, which resulted in his return to Italy. The defender, who has two caps for England, has a contract with the Italian club that is valid until June 2028, and his current Transfermarkt valuation is €5.50 million. In October 2024, it was reported that Atalanta would consider offers of approximately €10 million for the player.
