Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Sunderland have sent scouts to watch Rangers centre-back Olwethu Makhanya, 22. The 4-cap South Africa international, who joined the Ibrox club for £3 million in the summer, is also attracting interest from teams in both Italy and Spain, with Brentford, Bologna and Sevilla also linked.
Rangers are determined to keep their player. It is said that manager Derek McInnes is happy with his squad and has no plans to consider major sales. However, a significant offer could tempt the club to sell, which would then require them to find a replacement. Any move for Makhanya in January would command a very high fee, likely to be more than the £25 million Scottish record sale. His contract runs until June 2030, and he has a current Transfermarkt market value of €8.00m.
