Guadalajara's 22-year-old Mexican centre-forward Armando González has reportedly become a target for the Borussia Dortmund board. The Bundesliga club monitored the player's performance during the Clásico Tapatío. In addition to the German club's supposed interest, Barcelona is also mentioned as another interested club. The club is reportedly seeking a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. González's low market value is a factor in him being a forward in demand both nationally and internationally. The platform Transfermarkt values the player at approximately seven million dollars.

Dortmund will continue to monitor his performance for the remainder of the Clausura 2026 semester to make a decision after the summer. González, who joined his current club in January 2024, has a contract until the end of 2026. He has scored 17 goals and provided one assist in 25 domestic league appearances this season and has been capped four times for Mexico, scoring once. In early 2026, reports indicated that Guadalajara rejected a bid of approximately €18.5 million for the player from CSKA Moscow.
