Ajax inquired with Manchester United about the availability of 25-year-old Dutch centre-forward Joshua Zirkzee. It is reported that the Amsterdam club is one of several to have shown interest, alongside Juventus, whose interest was already known, and two Premier League clubs. Ajax asked United for its stance on a transfer and has received a response, but the chance of the club pursuing a deal is now considered minimal.
This is because Ajax has already spent significantly on strikers Marcos Leonardo and Tolu Arokodare, making a move for Zirkzee seem impossible. Zirkzee himself is said to be open to a transfer this summer after receiving little playing time last season. Italian media have also mentioned Como, though reports suggest he was only offered to the club by his agent. Zirkzee, who has 6 caps for the Netherlands, has a contract with United until June 2029 and a current market value of €20.00m, according to Transfermarkt. He joined the club from Bologna in July 2024 for €42.5 million, and reports in July 2026 mentioned a potential sale price of around €40m.
