Universitatea Craiova has made a €1.5 million offer to Hannover 96 for Virgil Ghiță. The move for the 28-year-old Romanian defender comes as the club anticipates significant funds from its European campaign and is also prompted by an injury to fellow centre-back Adrian Rus. The club's sporting director, Mario Felgueiras, had previously stated that they were in discussions to sign a central defender and might sign two. Ghiță, who joined the German club in July 2025, was a regular starter in the last Zweite Bundesliga season, with 30 appearances. The defender, who has 10 caps and one goal for Romania, has a contract with Hannover 96 until June 30, 2028, and his current market value is estimated to be €2.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
