Thomas Ouwejan has left NEC and moved to the Japanese club Machida Zelvia. The club announced the transfer through its official channels. Technical director Carlos Aalbers stated that Thomas had little prospect of playing time in Nijmegen and that this is a good solution for both parties. Ouwejan played forty matches for NEC, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.

Voetbal International and De Gelderlander report that an agreement is in place between NEC and Machida Zelvia for the transfer of Thomas Ouwejan. The player still needs to undergo a medical examination. According to De Gelderlander, on Friday, he was no longer present at NEC's training field.

Thomas Ouwejan is moving to Machida Zelvia in Japan. The move allows the 29-year-old Dutch left-back to leave, as he has not been part of NEC's plans for some time, particularly since Dick Schreuder took charge. Ouwejan has not played a single minute for the Nijmegen club this season. At Machida Zelvia, he will join Koki Ogawa, who also transferred from NEC during this transfer period. Ouwejan's previous clubs include AZ, Schalke 04, and Udinese. His contract at NEC runs until June 2027. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €700k. Ouwejan has also been capped 12 times for the Netherlands U21 team.
