Thomas Gillier  Transfer from Universidad Católica to Bologna

Thomas Gillier is a Chilean goalkeeper with a French passport, born in 2003, and already part of the South American national team circuit. He will be released from Universidad Católica on June 30 and will sign with Bologna on a free transfer. Due to a recent tendon tear, Bologna plans to loan him to Montreal to regain optimal physical condition and gain valuable playing time, allowing the club to better evaluate him in a less pressuring environment. The deal is essentially concluded, with official announcement expected by the end of the current month.

Bologna is said to have reached a verbal agreement with Chilean goalkeeper Thomas Gillier from Universidad Católica for a free transfer. The goalkeeper is anticipated to join the Italian club in mid-year, according to reports by journalist Cesar Luis Merlo. It is expected that Gillier will sign a long-term contract with Bologna until June 2030, with an option for an additional year. However, immediately after signing with Bologna, it is anticipated that Gillier will be loaned for one season to Montreal, an MLS club that shares ownership with the Italian side. This arrangement is designed to allow the young talent to gain experience in the North American league before potentially joining Serie A in the subsequent seasons.
