The two parties were in an advanced stage of negotiations with only details remaining to be discussed. However, the transfer did not happen because Bergvall instead chose FC Lausanne-Sport.

Djurgården has given Theo Bergvall permission to visit Go Ahead Eagles, and according to sporting director Bosse Andersson, this visit is the reason for Bergvall's absence from training and the match at Bosön.

Go Ahead Eagles is close to an agreement with Djurgårdens on the transfer of Theo Bergvall. Only the final details remain for the transfer of the 21-year-old right-back. Aftonbladet expects the young back to make a decision within a few weeks, although the transfer period in the Netherlands ends in less than three weeks. Go Ahead sees Bergvall as a future successor to captain Mats Deijl.
