Ajax coach Míchel held extensive talks with Sven Mijnans, a 26-year-old Dutch attacking midfielder, to bring the AZ player to Amsterdam, but PSV ultimately signed him. Mounir Boualin added that Míchel very much wanted to add Mijnans to the squad and that Ajax was willing to offer the left-footed player a very large salary. However, when PSV also showed interest, Mijnans reportedly made a quick decision, wanting to move to the Philips Stadion as soon as possible.
