Stije Resink is a 23-year-old Dutch midfielder for FC Groningen who is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in early March 2026. According to Dagblad van het Noorden, he is set to transfer to AZ. Before his injury, Resink had attracted interest from multiple clubs, including Ajax and Benfica. Benfica made an official approach that Groningen rejected. AZ had also previously been in talks for another Groningen player, Thom van Bergen, but failed to reach an agreement. Dagblad van het Noorden reports that Resink is now close to a move. The player has a six million euro clause in his contract for this summer, but the transfer fee is lower. The publication states that an amount of around four million euros is involved. FC Groningen has also secured an unspecified resale percentage in the deal.
