Watford have confirmed the signing of winger Stephy Mavididi on a season-long loan from Leicester City. Watford Football Club announced the transfer on September 1, 2026 via their official X (Twitter) account. Stephy Mavididi said he is happy and extremely pleased that the deal is done, adding that he is ready to help and ready to go.

Watford are expected to sign Leicester City winger Stephy Mavididi on deadline day. According to Josh Holland from the Leicester Mercury, Watford have secured him on loan after facing competition from clubs including Middlesbrough, Rangers and Derby County. Mavididi was considered likely to leave Leicester following the club's relegation to League One, and he has not been in the matchday squad for their first four matches of the new season. The winger is expected to complete the formalities to become a Watford player.

A report from SportsBoom states that Watford have added Leicester's 27-year-old English winger, Stephy Mavididi, to their transfer shortlist and are considered a leading contender for his signing. The same report also identifies Derby County as an interested party. A potential transfer is not certain, as Mavididi is under contract with the club until 2028. Mavididi joined Leicester in July 2023 and has been capped by England at the U20 level, scoring 3 goals in 3 appearances. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €8.00m.
