Rennes is among several clubs to have expressed interest in Schalke's German and Moroccan midfielder, Soufiane El-Faouzi. Celtic, Brentford, Sunderland, and Bologna have also made their interest in the 23-year-old known. El-Faouzi, who joined the Gelsenkirchen club last season, attracted interest from other clubs with his performances that helped Schalke return to the Bundesliga. It is also claimed that Schalke plans to keep the player and has placed a valuation of €12 million (£10.3 million) on him. His contract with the club runs until 2029, and according to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €4.00m. Earlier reports from March 2026 mentioned an asking price of up to €10 million, while in January 2026 there were reportedly offers of at least €8.5 million. This followed his transfer from Alemannia Aachen in July 2025 for a reported €200,000.
