Aberdeen have sold Norwegian midfielder Sivert Heltne Nilsen to Norwegian second-tier club FK Haugesund after the 34-year-old requested a move back to his homeland to be closer to his family and to pursue coaching. Nilsen, who was one of former manager Jimmy Thelin's first signings in the summer of 2024, had his playing time diminish this term, making 23 appearances mostly as a substitute after playing regularly last season. Manager Stephen Robinson described Nilsen as an outstanding professional and confirmed the club would now seek a new defender, as Nilsen had been playing in the centre-back position. The player, who has two caps for Norway's U23 team, has a current market value of €150k, according to Transfermarkt.
