According to La Provence, Olympique de Marseille is considering activating its buy-back priority for Simon Ngapandouetnbu in June 2027. The club is interested in bringing the player back to anticipate the succession of Jeffrey de Lange and prepare for the future at the goalkeeper position. Simon Ngapandouetnbu is under contract with Montpellier until June 2028. No concrete progress has been announced at this stage. The interest from Olympique de Marseille does not mean a decision has been made or that Simon Ngapandouetnbu will automatically return.

As part of Simon Ngapandouetnbu's move to Montpellier, his former club Olympique Marseille reportedly retained a priority clause to re-sign the 23-year-old goalkeeper, who also holds French citizenship. According to Africafoot, Le Mans FC also had the player on their shortlist a few months ago. Ngapandouetnbu's contract with Montpellier is set to run until June 2028. The player, who joined his current club in August 2025, has one cap for Cameroon and a current Transfermarkt market value of €2.50m.
