FSV Mainz 05 and Borussia Mönchengladbach, two Bundesliga clubs, are interested in signing 23-year-old Japanese winger Shunsuke Mito from Sparta Rotterdam. An earlier report from RTV Rijnmond mentioned unspecified interest in Mito from English and Spanish clubs. His contract with Sparta runs until the summer of 2028, and the Rotterdam-based club reportedly wants a transfer fee between three and four million euros. Mainz has the financial means to act immediately, whereas Borussia Mönchengladbach would need to sell players before making new signings. Mito joined Sparta in January 2024 and has one cap for Japan. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €2.00m.
